Humanitary response

In the intense circumstances following disasters, a crucial aspect of saving lives is the speed at which relief efforts can commence.

Effective humanitary response demands partners on the ground with access and capacity to reach affected areas, but it also fundamentally relies on the availability of funding. The Foundation has therefore established a series of emergency relief partnerships that ensure fast response and humanitarian assistance to victims of disasters and conflicts.

No humanitarian funding from the Grundfos Foundation is contingent on new initiatives or ideas created specifically for our sake; instead, we support the established work that our partners are already doing.

On February 6, 2023, a deadly magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey, followed by aftershocks as large as magnitude 7.5, killing more than 50,000 people and leaving hundreds of thousands more homeless. Nurdagi is a city of 40,000 in Gaziantep Province just four miles (six kilometers) from the earthquake's epicenter. Water Mission's Disaster Assistance Response Team is on the ground in Nurdagi assessing most urgent needs, locating available water sources, and testing water quality and safety. By February 20, our experts had safe water to people in need in Nurdagi, starting with a health clinic. Our safe water solution at Nurdagi Medical Center serves more than 250 medical workers, meeting sanitation and hygiene needs. (photos available in the 2/20/23 album) (robert coronado Water Mission)
