Health, Safety and Well-being Award

Health and well-being – both physically and mentally – are top of mind of every company, that care about their people. In Grundfos Colombia they have found a new medicine for preventing mental fatigue, while at the same time promoting physical activity with a special focus on avoiding musculoskeletal disorders. The medicine is called dynamic active breaks.

For 15 minutes twice a week, groups of colleagues gather to perform an activity together. It can be a physical activity, as an example a Zumba class, or it can be a mental game triggering the mind in a different way. Creativity has truly been at play. Positive side effects are the smiles, the laughter and the feeling of being together. The photos shared by our Colombian colleagues tell the story much better. And these dynamic active breaks have paid have shown up also in the EMS, where the motivation and satisfaction have climbed up.

Next to the positive impacts on health and well-being of the individual colleague, it is an excellent way of recreating a true sense of Togetherness in our organisation across functions. The idea is inviting for everyone, it holds the potential to impact thousands of colleagues, and it is easy to copy/paste in other parts of Grundfos.

Community Engagement Award

The Responsible Engineers for Sustainability project is an initiative launched in 2022 by the Sustainability Steps Association (SADE) and Grundfos Türkiye. The project aims to empower young engineers in Türkiye to integrate sustainability principles into their professions. It addresses real-world issues by focusing on four Sustainable Development Goals 6, 7, 13, 5: clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, climate action, and gender equality.

Additionally, it supports goals 4 and 8, centering on quality education, lifelong learning, decent work, and economic growth by equipping young engineers and engineering students with the knowledge and tools to integrate sustainability principles into their profession.

The project fills a gap in sustainable engineering education and involves workshops, seminars, events, practical trainings, visits, collaborations, and mentorship. The Grundfos Türkiye team, with contributions from 17 employees, actively engages in training and dialogue with young engineers and engineering students, sharing their experiences in implementing sustainable projects. As such, they inspire the next generation of engineers to consider environmental, social, and economic impacts of their engineering solutions, thereby ensuring long-term viability.

Community

2025 Community Engagement Award goes to Grundfos Turkey and Sustainability Steps Association. From left: Gonca Basar, Morten Bach, and Canberk Sahin.

The jury finds this initiative significant due to its level of employee engagement and its long-lasting positive impact on future engineering professionals, who will also become decision makers when it comes to sustainability practices and efforts. The project serves as an exemplary model for other Grundfos companies with its comprehensive approach and impactful results.

The project has already received significant coverage, it has scalability, and it truly showcases the importance of companies taking social and environmental responsibility in building a sustainable future for all. The award money can ensure expansion by funding a documentary to address the shortage of visual resources on sustainable engineering, reaching and inspiring an even wider audience.
