Toward the end of 2021, the Grundfos Foundation donated DKK 500,000 for Plan International's emergency relief in Ethiopia and 40,000 EUR for the NGO Water and Life after super typhoon Rai.

Just before Christmas, the Foundation received a request for emergency relief funding after super typhoon Rai in the  Visayas region where we have previously engaged with the NGO Water and Life via a community grant. With more than 375 people killed, over 500 injured, and 40,000 people displaced by the Typhoon, the event has been defined as a disaster.  It also destroyed part of the work done within the Grundfos Community Grant project. The Foundation therefore immediately donated EUR 40,000 to Water and Life Philippines‘ emergency relief activities.

Aid for women and children in Tigray

Almost 7.9 million people are in need of emergency relief in Etiopia’s northen regions. Since November 2020, the conflict in Tigray has spread to the neighbouring regions of Amhara and Afar where most of the Tigray Region’s internally displaced are currently residing. The majority are women and children.

The DKK 500,000 donation from the Foundation to Plan International’s Danish chapter, PlanBørnefonden, will help ensure access to water and sanitation/hygiene for the many internally displaced and the host communities of Amhara and Afar while also preventing violence against women and girls.
