At the Board meeting in March, the Foundation approved 9 new Community Engagement Grant applications from around the world worth 826,000 EUR in total.
The LATAM Water Resilience Initiative accounts for more than half of the funds. It is a regional program implemented across six locations in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico (Monterrey and San Luis Potosí), coordinated by Agua Segura. The initiative will benefit more than 10,000 people (directly and indirectly) across five countries through improved access to safe water, sanitation, environmental education, and resilient community infrastructure.
Across the region, the program addresses a sereis of water-related challenges:
- Argentina: Severe housing deficits and lack of WASH services in informal settlements; APA homes provide safe housing, sanitation, and water access.
- Chile: Ecological restoration in Parque San Mateo is limited by lack of autonomous water access.
- Colombia: Rural and peri‑urban communities face water scarcity and aqueduct capacity limitations.
- Peru: Community kitchens lack safe water for food preparation and hygiene.
- Mexico: Schools lack systems to treat and reuse greywater, increasing water stress.
“Across all countries, Grundfos employees will contribute approximately 800 volunteer hours, supporting installation, environmental education, community engagement, and nature‑based water solutions throughout Latin America.“
Rodrigo Quiro, Country Director Chile, Grundfos
The Foundation supports Community Engagement Projects making active use of the Grundfos Volunteering Policy.
